Story of a song
In those days, Yossi Eisenthal owned the company “Ayil Productions” and in his ‘spare’ time he supervised on the sound for big productions in Israel and worldwide. [Since then, they only remember him when the sound crashes and he happens to be in the crowd…]
Mona Rosenblum hired Yossis’ services for a production that took place in Switzerland with MBD. When the show was over the exaughsted threesome dragged themselves back to their hotel, a bell boy behind them carrying their bags. When they arrived at their room, the bell boy put down their bags, took the tip, and left them to catch up on some sleep.
“Did you see that guy?” they asked eachother, “an ox of a German man! מזרע עמלק הגרמנים הללו –“
MBD turned to Mona “we need a song, ‘Timche’, something rocky” Mona, who was pro the idea as well as someone who does as he is told, sat down by the keyboard and let his hands and heart do their job. Out came a tune that was something between and scream and a request “Timche, Timche...” and this is how the song you are listening to on this weeks program was written.
If for some reason you are having a hard time believing this story feel free to call Yossi, he has the original recording of the first time it was sung in that hotel room. (another one of Yossis obsessions is to record every kumzitz…)
