The over pass in Bnei Brak which collapsed on a Truck earlier this week, killing the driver- is being referenced by Gedolei Yisroel.
At the culmination of his weekly Va’ad to avriechim yesterday (Wednesday), Hagaon R’ Meir Tzvi Bergman, who is a member of the Moetztes Gedolei Yisroel in Israel, commented over the collapsed bridge in Bnei Brak.

Rav Bergman first started with emphasizing the importance of Ellul.
“We are now in the days of bein hazmanim, people go out to vacation with their children and families, and this is something important to set aside time for.
As well, it is a time to rest and recharge strength for the upcoming zman. The upcoming Zman is not just any zman, it is the zman of the holy days of Elull, great days which have tremendous siyata dishmaya to grow in Torah and tikun hamasim.
I heard from Mori Chomi the Rosh Yeshivah Zt”l, that ‘this zman needs a zman to precede it’. In the past, it was enough to have an Elull before Rosh Hashana, but today we need an Elull before Elull, we must wake up”.

The Rav Bergman then commend over the fallen overpass saying, “Two day ago a bridge collapse near Bnei Brak, in a few places in Chazal it’s brought down that tragedy only comes down to the world for ‘Yisroel’. Even if it takes place in a far away place, it come to direct us, to wake us up. It is brought down that even thunder comes to straighten the crookedness in the heart.

How much more so in our case, when a tragedy happened in our borders right near us in Bnei Brak. Think about it, from all the hundreds of bridges in Eretz Yisroel, this specific bridge collapsed near us, it is coming to awaken us”.

R’ Bergman further added, “A bridge is something that symbolizes this world, which connects the Neshama from before it was born to the next world. The Neshama was in the other world before it ws born, and this world is just a bridge for the Neshama that it should go higher and higher, with a lot of Torah, Mitzvos and good deeds…
