After a relatively quiet period of calm at the southern border, yesterday the spell was unfortunately broken.
A siren went off in Ashkelon and the surrounding towns yesterday afternoon(Tuesday), signaling in incoming rocket. A short time later a loud explosion was herd, and hit was reported in the Ashkelon industrial zone.

In response to the rocket fire, the IDF attacked 2 Hamas positions in northern Gaza late last night. The attacks were carries out with IAF fighter Jets.
According to reports from Social media outlets in the strip, idlest three people were injured in the strikes, including a 26-year old man who was said to be in critical condition. The reports also claim that one of the sites targeted was a Hamas structure near the ‘Boat site’.

The IDF spokesman released a statement saying, “The attack was in response to the high trajectory fire that was carried out against the Ashkelon beach region’ earlier this evening”.
The spokesman also clarified why Hamas was targeted even though the group was not identified as the one responsible for the rocket fire. “The IDF sees the Hamas terror orginazation exclusively responsible for what happens in the Gaza Strip”.
