This past Friday two Druze police officers were murdered in a brutal terror attack which took place at one of the entrances to Har Habayis.
Three Arabs from Uhm -EL Fachem, smuggled live ammunition on to Har Habayis, and when the moment seemed right, opened fire on three policemen stationed at the lion gate entrances to the mountain.
A short while later the deaths of two of the policeman, Sargent Hael Stoy, 30, from the Druze town of Moror, and Sargent Kamil Shinan, 22, from the Druze town Churpish on the Lebanese border.
The Druze community in Israel is known for its loyalty to the state. Its finest serve in the IDF, Police force, Magav, and cyber security firms.
When Zeedin Zyef, a Druze police officer, was killed while trying to stop the Har Nof massacare in the Bnei Torah shul two years ago, the chareidi community was exposed firsthand to the contribution and sacrifice the Druze community is making for Israel.
Now as well, it was important to pay a visit and show solidarity to the community that is sharing the security burden with Israel, and is sacrificing its young ones for Israel’s security.
A group of Chareidim from Bnei Brak And Yerushalayim made their way yesterday, to the Druze town of Churpish located on the Lebanese border to show solidarity and console the family of sergeant Kamil Shinan who was killed in Friday’s terror attack at the entrance to Har Habayis.
The group mad the long trip of about three hours each way, just to be with the family at this difficult hour.
“I headed to the far-flung town” says Yanky Farber, ‘Chadrei Chareidim’s’ special correspondent. “Together with other Chareidim, we went because we felt that we had to show our appreciation to the Druze community.
When we arrived at the town, we tried to console the father of Kamil- who was killed in the terror attack last Friday. We told the family that we felt compelled to come and show our appreciation, and a great thank you to the Druze community for the fact that their children defend, and give their lives so that we can come daven at Mekomos Hakedoshim in general, and at the Kosel in particular.
We also expressed our deep appreciation that on Shabbosim and Yomim Tovim the Druze security personnel carry the brunt of the security burden, since many of their Jewish counter parts go home to spend the day with their families”.
The father of the fallen police officer warmly thanked the group saying, “Thank you for coming from Bnei Brak and Yerushalayim, especially since you are coming from the chareidi community. It warms my heart very much.
You should now that in the state of Israel there are Druzim that love the state, and love Jews, they are partners to the life over here. They seek ways not only to be partners in security, but also in in the life and honor (of the state)”.
The grieving, but moved father, then invited more people from the Chareidi community to come and get to know the Druze community. “I want to come to partnership with you, to bring many Chareidim from the center of the country to get to know the Druze community.
Thank you so much for coming it really warms my heart”.
