The ‘New Israel Fund’ (INF) assisted in marketting the ‘farewell ceremony’ of former MK Basal Ghattas- according to a report by the Israeli paper ‘Yisrael Hayom’, this morning (Sunday). The Arab MK was recently indicted for smuggling cell phones to terrorist serving life sentences in Israeli prisons, a move which is considered a severe security breach.

According to the report, the ceremony took place at the Yaffo theater in the beginning of June, and the ceremony also served as a platform to publicly support Arab terrorist’s hunger striking in Israeli prisons.

The publicity for the event was part of the ‘End 50’ campaign-which was directly funded and operated by the fund, with the aim to bring an “end to the occupation”.

The farewell ceremony held for MK Ghattas was titled “Notebook to the prison”, and was attended by his supporters and activist.

As noted, the event and also served as an evening of support for the hunger strikers. Among the participants was the wife of the terrorist Walid Daka; who was involved in the kidnapping and murder of the soldier Moshe Tamam Hy”d, back in 1984. As a result, Daka was sentenced to life in prison.

Daka was one of the terrorist that Ghattas smuggled phones into the prison for.

In response to the shocking report, Shai Glick director of the ‘Betzalmo’ organization said, “again it has been proven the the New Israel Fund, which declares itself as Zionist, supports and helps terrorist. The foundation’s’ support for Ghattas and murders is a disgrace. I call upon the state of Israel to act with all its might to cease any connection with the ‘New fund’”.

Despite them being the ones behind it, on the funds official site the organization refrained from taking responsibility for the marketing or for any other involvement in the event.

In response to the allegation, the fund released a statement strongly denying any connection to the event, and added that “if it turns out that there were messages of support for terror or assistance for terror, the INF condoms and disapproves of it in any way”.
