During the early afternoon hours yesterday (Tuesday), the Beis Yisroel neighborhood where the largest Yeshiva in the world is located sprang into frantic motion.

The thousands of avreichim and bochurim learning in the ‘Mir Yerushalayim’ were requested to present themselves to inspectors from the ministry of education who came to conduct one of the annual inspections.

The price of not having a certain percentage of students present at the inspection, is the ineligibility to pass; and would cost the yeshiva to lose the enormous government funding it has been receiving in the past.

After the inspection was over, the yeshiva’s administration announced that the surprise visit by the inspectors was staged, and was merely a drill to prepare the Yeshiva for the real deal which is expected any day now.

The Yeshiva warmly thanked the Talmidim that participated in the drill, and also demanded answers from those that were not present for the drill.

A notice put up by the Yeshiva’s administration reads, “Thank you to all the delegates that helped and assisted in the inspection yesterday, which BS”D passed successfully”.

The yeshiva also reminded Talmidim to be alert for the real inspecting which can take place any day now. “Per protocol, till the end of the zman additional (Id least one) inspections will take place, we ask everyone to continue assisting so that we can get back what we deserve”.

The poster was signed off, “Together we will do and succeed- Mishpachas Mir”

“Bechadrei Chareidim” was told that the Yeshiva’s administration followed up with dozens of students who were not present at the inspection and demanded an explanation for their absence.

The idea of a mock inspection was well received in the Yeshiva world and many other yeshivas are now contemplating to carry out a similar drill.
