Two GSS Employees Embezzled Hundreds Of Thousands Of NIS

It’s been permitted for publication, two GSS employees are being charged with stealing hundreds of thousands of NIS from public funds, during the course of their work. According to the GSS, the two did not hold senior positions in the agency, they were merely employed at administrative and financial positions.

Most the money has already been returned.

Suspicions against the two were was raised during an internal audit conducted by the agency, which revealed suspicious and abnormal activity in the agency’s finance department. The two were found to be directly linked to the suspicious activity.

The suspicions were passed on to investigators from the ‘Department for the Investigation of Police’, who after receiving permission from the state prosecutor opened a criminal investigation against the two.

The GSS fully cooperated with investigators, and assisted with whatever was necessary throughout the entire investigation.

With the completion of the investigation, the ‘Department for the Investigation of Police’ filed an indictment against the two GSS employees, and requests that the two be detained until the end of the proceedings against them.

Among the charges filed in the indictment, are robbery by a public employee, and forgery.
