The ‘International committee for the protection of Har Hazeisim’ welcomed the announcement of a new ‘police ATV unit’ that will be patrolling Har Hazeisim. Police have recently announced that they will be boosting security in east Yerushalayim, and especially in Har Hazeisim which is visited by many misspalelim on a daily basis.
Har Hazeisim is the largest bais Hachaim in the world, and for years has continuously been plagued by Arab harassment and vandalism.

After years of violent harassment and insolence to the Bais Hachaim and its daily visitors, the ‘International Committee For The protection Of Har Hazeisim’ was formed.
As part of the new security system under the command of Chaim Shmueli -Kedem district police commander, patrols will be carried out throughout Har Hazeisim by the police’s special ATV unit. Since the patrols will be done with ATV’s, it will allow police to get through rougher terrain a lot faster, and will provide visitors with a heightened feeling of security.

This decision comes after the heads of the ‘International Committee for the Protection of Har HAzeisim’ met with police commander Chaim Shmueli and other police officials, during their recent visit to Israel a few weeks ago.

The security situation on Har Hazeism has recently improved, among other things that contributed to the improvement is the installation of a network of security cameras, new police stations, and a new separation fence that has recently been constructed at the eastern part of the cemetery.

Head of the committee Menachem Lobinsky commented on the added level of security saying: “At our recent meeting with police and government official we discovered a clear interest to improve the situation in Har Hazeisim. We are happy that after much effort to create awareness, we are finally seeing results. We will still continue to act and to ensure that visitors at the mountain will feel the maximum sense of security”.
