Instead of contesting the idea of ‘Yom Hazikaron’, whether to stand at the siren or not. Residents of the town of Yad Binyamin came up with a unifying idea that will give an opportunity for everyone- regardless of their opinion about the Army- to honor the fallen soldiers of the IDF.
The idea stems from a Torah perspective and will be a great to’eles for the neshamos of the fallen soldiers.
The program is called “Lekedoshim” and boasts a website where people can sign up to learn a daf of Gemara Talmud Bavli, leiluy nishmas the fallen soldiers. The dafim will be learned in one day, hopefully the entire Shas will be completed.
The day that was chosen is ‘Yom Hazikaron’, and those that sign up are requested to learn one daf of Gemara within a period of 20 hours- between the hours of 8:00PM the night before and 4:00 PM the next day.
(Although the program mandates that the learning be completed by 4:00PM, regarding the segulah of finishing the entire shas in one day, participants can still finish their learning until shkiah, a little after 7:00 PM)
The program was launched just one week ago, and has already garnered much support with over 2,000 dafim already ‘reserved’ to be learned leiluy nishmas the fallen soldiers.
“Bechadrei Chareidim” joins the program and calls on those that are interested to also join.
