Eight youngsters between the age of 17-18 were charged with planning attacks and unrests against IDF Soldiers and Israeli civilians. The group formed a terror cell and proceeded to plan attacks from within the Megiddo prison where they were serving sentences for previous crimes they had committed.
According to the indictment filed by the Jerusalem district prosecution, the cell of eight terrorists planned terror attacks between the months of March- May in 2015. They planned on carrying out the attacks after being released from prison. The attacks include stone throwing, Molotov cocktails and large scale attacks.
The cell occasionally met in the prisons library to plan and strategize their future attacks. At one of their meetings they discussed how they would be financing their future terror activities. One of the members suggested that they save their ‘Prisoner Allowance’ money they would be receiving upon being freed. They all agreed to put aside their special allowance to buy weapons and uniforms.
Aside from these charges, some members of the cell are also facing charges of causing unrest and participating in violent riots on Har Habayis.
Others are also being charged with ‘incitement for violence’ after posting on their Facebook accounts messages calling for violence and terror against Jews.
The prosecution is asking for their arrests until all legal proceedings against them has been completed.
Four of the indicted have been charged in the past with ‘endangering human life’ and ‘severe sabotage’ amongst other charges; after they threw stones at Jewish cars at the entrance to the Armon Hanatsiv neighborhood in November of 2013. Their actions moderately injured a two-year-old girl who was traveling together with her mother.
After that incident, they were sentenced to 22 months in prison with additional time depending on condition with their behavior.
