Thanks To “Bechadrei Chareidim’’Exposing plans: Ancient Tiferes Yisroel Shul Saved

“Bechadrei Chareidim” recently exposed the plans of the ‘Firm for development of the Rova’ to turn the Ancient Tiferes Yisroel shul into a national Zionist tourist center. The revelation prompted many Knesset members including Shas Charmin MK Yoav Ben Tzur to put out sharp statements condemning the plans. Housing minister Yoav Galant, subsequently put the plans on hold and is attempting to come to an understanding with the MK’s.

Mk Yoav Ben Tzur severely criticized the decision saying “The shul was built in the 1860s by the Chassidic Rebbe R’ Yisroel Friedman from Rizhin and his son R’ Avraham Yackov of Sadi’gura, hence the name ‘’Tiferes Yisroel’’. The shul’s rightful owner is the Rizhin’r Chassidus, it’s being ripped away from them and turned into a Zionist national center for tourism, that is in sharp contrast to the beliefs and views of the owner of the property…. this is a tremendous Chilul to the Kedusha of the place. And I ask why is the Tiferes Yisroel shul any different then Amona”?

He further questioned the double standard taking place “In Amona we all understand that without the Hasdara law the Jewish residents can’t continue living there. Even though they have been living there for many years, the right of the Palestinians can’t be trampled on. But for some reason when it comes to a shul no law is necessary, whoever desires can come and do whatever he wants”.

He finished off by urging that the matter be brought to the committee of internal affairs and that the entire plan be put off.
