The Ministerial Committee for Legislative Affairs, will be conveying tonight (Sunday) on behalf of deliberating and voting on the Hasdara law. The law is meant to prevent the destruction of Amona, a town located in the Binyamin regional council. Despite strong opposition from prime Minister Netanyahu not to bring it up tonight, the committee is still set to convey and vote on it tonight.
Due to a decision passed by the high court, if the law is not passed tonight (at 7 pm Israel), then on the first night of Chanukah, tractors are set to start their ascent and raze the homes of the forty families that live in Amona.
In a special live interview given to “Bechadrei chariedim”, Rav of the community, Rabbi Yair Frank shared the difficult feelings that he and the residents of the community are experiencing. Calling on civil disobedience, the Rav says “the residents are not planning to leave on their own two feet”.
The Rav is also turning to the Chareidi parties asking them to support the law to prevent the “injustice being perpetrated against the Torah and humanity, as well as the destruction of shuls Mekvaos and Talmudey Torah that are in the settlement”.
‘’I have been living here for fifteen years, shares Harav Frank with “Bechadrei Chareidim”, I came here as a young Avreich studying in a kollel of dayanos. Baruch Hashem I have nine kids, behind me you can see the Talmud Torah where three of my kids learn. The settlement is comprised of forty families with (approx.) 200 kids. The residents are all typical, working as, teacher’s, farmers, high tech and Avreichim.”
“What is happening is a great injustice, per the ruling of the high court, the entire community Is set to be destroyed by the first night of Chanuka. This is a crime against humanity, a crime against the Torah, as well, a severe isur of lo tichanem. Other places including Modiin and Beitar will obviously be affected too, this must stop. We are expecting the Chareidi parties to vote on behalf of the law’’ the Rav sadly remarks.
“The Hasdara law says something very simple” explains the Rav. Instead of evicting and causing tremendous damage, to compensate the alleged rightful owners of the property. This has to be done, and with Hashems help this justice will be done in Amona”.
Two years ago, you sent representatives to the Knesset and they betrayed you? The Rav is asked.
“I believe that a nationalistic coalition does not have the right to exist if they evict Amona, if there indeed will be an expulsion then the coalition has to fall. Either through the Bayit Hayehudi or some other party, there can’t be a situation where there is an expulsion edict on our town and the ministers are sitting in the coalition. The moment this will be understood the coalition won’t fall because I believe that the prime minister does not want this coalition to fall apart, and Amona too will stay where it is, with Hashems help”.
“As well, the Rav continues, Bayet Hayehudi should threaten to break the coalition. They should not be part of a government that evicts Amona. Minister Uri Ariel and MK Smotrich already stated this approach. Rabbi Eli Ben Dehan and Shuli Mualem also stated this. Bennet has still not said this in public, but I demand it of him, the Likud ministers and the Chariedi parties. There is a great human injustice being done here, a great injustice to Erets Yisroel too, and we must put an end to it. It doesn’t matter what color your Kippah is, the Chareidi parties have to fight with us to prevent the destruction of shuls and Mikvaos”.
“we are in contact with representatives of the Chareidi parties, but I think that they have to connect more to the Torahdik side of the story here. There is a Kehilla, Talmud Torah, mikvah and shul that are all set to be destroyed. Just as they fight anywhere else they need to fight over this place too. It does not matter what color Yamukah you wear, we are all Jews and Believe in Hashem and his Torah. It is necessary for all of us to fight against people who are against the Torah, ahm Yisroel and Erets Yisroel’’.
Remarking on the uncomfortable feeling that chas veshaolm they will carry out the eviction order and evict him from his home, the Rav tells “Bechadrei Chareidim”
“It’s hard for me to picture it, the first night of Chanukah, Ner Ish Ubeyso, its Chag Hageula. I believe that with Hashems help everything will turn out fine. However, if chalila they will evict us, we decided that it will be a forced eviction, against our will. It will be a very painful eviction; our feet are planted here and none of us will leave on his own two feet. We will call thousands to come join us and proclaim with their feet ‘we are not moving from here’. However, we will not lift our hands at anyone, there will be a none violent civil disobedience.
