After a number of years in which reports were brought to Askanim in Jerusalem about a tailor shop in Meah Shearim where it is suspected that grave acts have been done to young boys, an official complaint has been filed and the suspect was arrested. This has become known to B’Chadrei Chareidim.
Police investigators from the Lev HaBira Jerusalem station arrested a store owner this afternoon (Sunday), under the suspicion of abusing the purity of young yeshiva Bochurim who came to his shop.
According to suspicions, boys who didn’t fight against the crimes had their tailor needs done without pay, but when the shop owner came across a boy who reacted with objection and disgust he would say “sorry” and continue his work as if nothing had happened.
From details that came through to B’Chadrei Chareidim it is understood that after the Rabbis of the neighborhood along with Askanim succeeded in convincing one of the boys to file a complaint, the investigators arrested the suspect and brought him to the police station, where he was questioned and sent home under house arrest.
“Rumors, gossip, and reports don’t influence anything at all,” said one of the Askanim involved to B’Chadrei Chareidim, “There is no reason to be embarrassed to file an official complaint. True, it is uncomfortable, but in order to utilize the investigation one must complain to the Rabbis and Askanim and not avoid filing a complaint to the police.”
The Jerusalem Police confirmed to B’Chadrei the arrest of the suspect, “against whom a complaint was filed and an investigation has been opened.”
