Eli Chaba and Roxana, the parents, departed from the hospital with tears in their eyes, holding their son Aharon, released from the hospital after 5 months spent in the preemie ward.
Aharon, born in the 22nd week of pregnancy, is the first child in Israel reported to be born so early and survive healthily!
“This is the first time we know of the survival of a baby born at 22 weeks and with such a medical success. There is no doubt that this is another example of proof of the abilities of the medical world nowadays to treat babies born at an early stage and survived successfully”, says Professor Dror Mandel, director of the preemie ward and Dana-Dwek Childrens’ Hospital of Ichilov Medical Center.
“This success is thanks to the warm and loving care given by the medical and nursing staff, and this is an exceptional achievement for us- it changes what we knew and thought about the survival of babies born in early weeks of pregnancy.”
And the proud parents? They have a message: “Every parent in the preemie ward should know that they too have a chance and they should keep up their hope because there are miracles and there are success stories. Never give up. Just look at us!”
