While summer among the Chareidi community in Israel has been relatively peaceful, in Chareidi areas in the United States there have been three traffic accidents over the past 24 hours ●Pain after pain: a few years ago Rabbi Yosef Mashinsky from Monsey, a well-known askan, was widowed - now he lost his daughter in a car accident ● Sheindel Mashinsky, a”h, 18 years old, was critically injured last night when crossing a road - and was Nifter from her injuries.
A day with much bad news for the Chareidi community in Monsey and the Catskills; three car accidents, only hours apart, left a family injured, and a young woman critically injured who later was Nifter.
The serious accident occurred yesterday (Wednesday) evening in Monsey. A car hit a Chareidi 18-year-old pedestrian who was critically wounded, as her younger sister watched helplessly.
The incident took place at 9 p.m (local time), on route 59- the main street the cuts through the town. The young woman and her sister were crossing the street when a car, driving quickly, hit the 18-year-old girl, while her sister went into shock, yet wasn’t physically hurt.
After paramedics treated the at the scene, she was transferred in critical condition to a local hospital, Westchester trauma center. The road was closed to bypassers, and the police investigators asked the younger sister for a witness account, but she was not able to help, because of the trauma.
The Skulener Rebbe shlit”a instructed to add a name for the young woman, but after only an hour, she was Niftar in the hospital.
The tragedy is only stronger, as Sheindel a”h was orphaned from her mother only a few years ago. Her father, yibadel Lchaim Aruchim, Rav Yosef Mashinsky, a member of the Klozenburg community, is a well-known activist in the Chassidish community, and part of the Hanhala of the ”Beis David” Cheider.
