Rebbetzin Jungreis who headed the organization of "Hineni" fighting spiritual deterioration among American Jews, gave lectures around the world. The Levaya will leave tomorrow at 11 from Agudah Of Long Island in Far Rockaway

Rebbetzin Esther Jungreis A"H died last night (Tuesday) in the US after a serious illness, at the age of 80. Jungreis was born in a family of rabbis in Szeged, Hungary in 1936. Her father, Rabbi Avraham HaLevi Jungreis was the Chief Rabbi of the city.
At the end of World War II, the summer of 1944, she was deported with her family as part of Hungarian Jews holocaust to the concentration camp of Bergen-Belsen. Rebbetzin Jungreis was on Kasztner Train that brought her and her family to Switzerland.
In 1947 she came the United States, where she married her cousin. In 1973, she founded the first Tshuva organization in the United States - "Hineni".
The stated goal of Jungreis when forming the organization was to fight spiritual deterioration identified among American Jewry. In 1995, the organization inaugurated a branch in Jerusalem. She founded the "Hineni" Center in Manhattan, which includes a museum and culture of the Jewish people. The center attracts 1,500 people, weekly.
Rebbetzin Jungreis was considered one of the most prominent figures in the Jewish community in the United States. She traveled around the world and gave lectures in Jewish communities worldwide. Her lectures were broadcasted every Sunday popular TV channels in the US. On one occasion, US President George W. Bush attended her lecture and added invited her on one of his trips in his private jet.
Jungreis was invited many times to talk to students on campus, Jews and those who are not -over the US. She was admired by all who know her. She wrote books translated into Hebrew - which deal with the issue of Jewish living. She is left a Dor Yeshorim-.
