Chief rabbi of Israel: Stop concealing child abuse
יעקב כהן, פלאש 90

Concerned with the increasing cases of attacks on children in schools and yeshivos and in general. Chief Rabbi of Israel, Rabbi David Lau, speaks up against hiding.

Rabbi Lau sent a letter to the managers of institutions "Unfortunately, I recently learned a terrible problem in our community. Cases where boys and girls were hurt in their own home or school, have shaken every heart," the rabbi in his letter. "It is painful to hear that places that should be a source of comfort and support, have become a nightmare".

Lau added, "At this time, the duty of parents, teachers, relatives and all those who are in contact with children and teens, to open their eyes and help those who need it. Concealment is not the answer to this painful issue. One should know that he is responsible even if it does not directly relate to him.

"I do not want to go into the details, I am disgusted by the fact that we need to discuss these issues but the necessity of an unavoidable horrific matter doesn't leave me much choice. It is up to you to open your eyes and give maximum attention to the abuse that may damage the souls of many young people ".
