According to a Fox News report the U.S. Food and Drug Administration ordered all blood collection centers in Miami-Dade and Broward counties to cease blood collection.

This announcement comes after Florida announced Wednesday that two more Zika cases were found in the state that were not related to travel to an area where the virus is prevalent.

A CDC spokesman said," "evidence is mounting to suggest local transmission via mosquitoes".

The FDA pasted a statement on its website Wednesday instructing blood centers in the counties affected and neighboring counties to stop collecting blood until they," until they can implement testing for the Zika virus in each unit of blood collected, or until they can put in place technology that can kill pathogens in collected blood."
