According to USA Today," The head of the Cleveland police union, Steve Loomis, urged Ohio governor John Kasich Sunday to suspend the Ohio law that allows the open carrying of firearms during the Republican National Convention, following the news that six police officers were shot in Louisiana."
Fox News reports that Loomis complained that the open carry law made convention security more difficult. It's reported that he said, "Somebody's got to do something. What we have now is completely irresponsible."
Governor Kiasch said that he is unable to change the law for a day which allows legal gun owners to carry firearms in plain sight. Authorities banned tennis balls and large backpacks in the event zone during the convention, but gun owners cannot be stopped from displaying their weapons.
