Theresa May is a popular, admired and straight shooting member of parliament . May is known for being a tough woman who unusually for a politician does not seem to be bothered about being liked. She won the support of two- thirds of parliamentary colleagues while refusing to buy people's support with job offers.
She is known to be stubborn, yet is open to a well sourced argument. According to The Guardian ,"she may not be adored, but she commands admiration, a wary respect, and deep gratitude…over a decade May overhauled the candidate system to bring more women and minority ethnic MPs up the ladder behind her…what makes a May premiership interestingly unpredictable is that she has always been driven less by ideology than my morality, a very personal sense of right or wrong. "
Additionally May seems to have a warm relationship with Jews. She first travelled to Israel in 2014 to meet with experts on cyber security and human trafficking. She spoke for Bnei Akiva on Israel's Independence Day. During the course of her speech she said," I could never have imagined Jewish people being too scared to stay in Britain." She said that without its Jews," Britain would not be Britain."
She has pledged large sums of money to provide security for Jewish schools and synagogues in England, and said, "We must all redouble our efforts to wipe out anti-Semitism here."
May was a supporter of the Remain campaign but has said that once the county has voted Brexit- she will lead the country through the process.
In the past May has pushed to curb immigration to the UK.
