It Trump would just publically apologize for making the mistake of tweeting an image that originated with a far right, anti-Semitic group this would all blow over pretty quickly.

In a JTA article Andrew Silow- Carroll argues that the way Trump had handled the red star of David slipup is not only inappropriate- but also bad PR.

He said that Trump is using the same strategy that Mit Romney paid dearly for; "Deny you said it, blame the media, change the subject."

In response to the public outrage over his tweet calling Clinton, "the most corrupt candidate ever " featuring a six pointed star and a pile of money, Trump denied that the image was anti-Semitic . He claimed that it was a sheriff's star. Trump's campaign removed the tweet and denied that Trump is an anti-Semite. His Jewish son-in-law vouched for him saying that his father in law is not anti-Semitic.

According to Silow-Carroll says that that is beside the point. "The question isn't whether Trump is anti-Semitic. Rather, how is it that the Trump campaign ended up tweeting out a meme already making the rounds in anti-Semitic circles? And now that the origin of the image is clear, and the image itself is being hailed by the likes of David Duke, why is Trump doubling down instead of walking it back? …Trump could go a long way toeard setting aside the snit-Semitism chatter, if he took a cue from his democratic rivals and gave a similar speech disavowing hater- or at the very least stopped hanging out with them on Twitter."
