The Mark Children's Unlikely Rescuer

An interview with the Palestinian who extricated the Marl children from their overturned car.

The Mark Children's Unlikely Rescuer

Michael and Chava Mark were gunned down by Palestinian terrorists Friday, then a Palestinian who had served time for terror related activity came upon the scene.

Channel 2 interviewed the Palestinian hero's personal account of the events;
"We saw an overturned car, I stopped my vehicle at the side of the road and got out. I tried to open the door, but the car was totally locked. All the doors were locked, front and back."

I saw two children inside screaming and asking me to help them. I reached out and for two minutes tried to open the door in order to get to the children who were suffocating inside the car. I think that if they were left a little longer, those children would have suffocated in the car."

He calmed and reassured the stricken children, placing them in his car until help arrived. Only once rescue services arrived did he realize that this was a terror attack- and not just a car accident.

He said that it didn't make a difference to him, "whether it was an attack or not, as a humane person, someone with a human heart. What I did I did out of my humanity. They were children, there were children inside, there were people inside. I didn't hesitate at all. "
