Chassan's Home Burned Down Right before Shabbos

A home was destroyed in a three- alarm fire in Lakewood Friday afternoon. Nearly 100 firefighters from five towns were called to the scene of the blaze. Many bystanders flocked to the scene many wanting to help the family who are making a wedding this week.

The fire began on the top floor and while the firefighters were getting organized an explosion was heard. The entire home burned down.

The Teller home was full of guests who had come to celebrate the Aufruf of their son. Baruch Hashem everyone got out safely, but the entire house was destroyed leaving the family and their Shabbos guests with no roof over their heads, no clothing for the simcha and no food for Shabbos.

Community members rallied to the aid of the Teller family and opened a men's clothing store in order to outfit he Chassan and the male members of his family. A woman's clothing store was also opened to help the female family members. Neighbors and local caterers donated food and the neighbors put everyone up for Shabbos.

According to An Asbury Park Press report flames were still flaring out a window at 5:45 p.m. and firefighters had to work through the evening to extinguish hot spots.
