A German government- run newspaper called Die Welt begged the EU not to completely sever ties with Britain out of fear that France, the Netherlands, Hungary, Austria and Finland may lose the incentive to stay.

Far right leaders in France and the Netherlands have called for referendums of their own on staying in the EU.

Foreign ministers of Germany, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg met in Berlin Saturday. They made a statement saying that they wanted Britain to quickly invoke the article in the EU charter to start the process of departure. As far as the other EU members they said, "we have to find better ways of dealing with these different levels of commitment to European unity. The statement said, "We are aware that discontent with the functioning of the EU as it is today is manifest in parts of our societies. We take this very seriously and are determined to make the EU work better for all our citizens."

Scotland is planning to immediately launch talks with the EU nations to find a way for them to remain even though Britain has voted to leave. According to Nicola Sturgeon Scotland's First Minister said that a new referendum on Scottish independence from the UK is,"very much on the table."

Danish Prime Minister Lars Loekke Rasmussen said Britain's exit "will echo for years to come and change the Europe as we know it."
