The UK's dramatic vote to leave the EU Thursday came within hours of the United States' Supreme Court decision that effectively blocks President Obama's plan to shield some 4 million illegal immigrants from deportation.
Friday morning Prime Minister David Cameron announced that he will be leaving office in the wake of the UK vote to leave the European Union. Mr. Cameron informed the Queen of his decision to remain in place for a short term to "steady the ship" and then hand over to a new prime minister by October.
"The British people have voted to leave the European Union and their will must be respected," said Mr Cameron. "The will of the British people is an instruction that must be delivered."
These historic words spoken on one side of Atlantic seem to echo sentiments felt in far off America- on the other side of the Atlantic ocean, where the desire to secure borders and keep illegal immigrants out seems to be mounting.
Are the liberal's losing their influence?
It seems that Thursday dealt a strong blow to liberal ideals on both sides of the ocean, when in spite of a 25 hour sit in staged by House Democrats the House did not address the gun bill of great importance to the Democrats, and the Supreme court blocked Obama from sheltering 4 million illegals- and the UK voted to leave the EU.
Trends may indeed be changing, but only time will tell how all of this will play itself out.
