Aliyah Day will be marked by celebrations in the Knesset, special programs in schools, in the police force and in the army with special celebrations taking place in the President's house.
It will be interesting to see if Aliyah day will make any impression at all in charedi society since many legal holidays don't get much attention in our community.
One way or another, the thought of Olim being celebrated for the sacrifice of leaving everything behind and moving to the other side of the globe is a welcome change from feeling apologetic for speaking in an accented Hebrew.
As MK Robert IIatov said," By marking this day , we are saying thank you to the immigrants and proudly acknowledging their decision to tie their fates with Israel."
A Time of Israel report acknowledges the fact that most Israelis are either immigrants- or descendants of immigrants.
