Rabbi Kass, who served as the NYPD's Jewish Chaplain since 1966 was promoted to chief chaplain in 2002. He is 80 years old. It seems that he was randomly targeted Sunday morning.
"I'm a walker; I like to go up to Grant's Tomb and back in the mornings. Someone hist me from behind and knocked me down. They didn't say a word, didn't take anything. They just started running," Kass said.
The chaplain was taken to the hospital and treated for a cut on his head.
He was thankful that he didn't break any bones.
