Counterfeit Money Scam

Suspects Accused of Distributing Counterfeit Money Arrested Thanks to Alert Shopkeeper

Counterfeit Money Scam

A 19-year old and a 20-year old from the North along with an 18-year-old from the South were arrested on Thursday on suspicion of using counterfeit money.

A Bnei Brak storekeeper on Rabbi Akiva Street told police that shortly before their arrival, three men had tried to purchase merchandise with counterfeit bills.

When they were unsuccessful, the men sped away in their car. In searching their car, the motorcycle division policemen found merchandise that was evidently purchased with the counterfeit bills. 37,500 shekel that may be counterfeit was also found.

Police noticed that because of the alertness of the storekeeper, many other innocent shopkeepers were spared losses.
