A Painful Loss in Los Angeles
Harav Chaim Zelig Fasman was niftar in Los Angeles this past Shabbos at the age of 84. Rav Fasman was rosh kollel of the Los Angles Kollel and a member of the Rabbinical Council of California.

Harav Chaim Zelig Fasman was niftar in Los Angeles this past Shabbos at the age of 84. Rav Fasman was rosh kollel of the Los Angles Kollel and a member of the Rabbinical Council of California.
He was born in Chicago in 1933, to Rabbi Osher Fasman who was president of Hebrew Theological College otherwise known as Skokie Yeshiva, president of Chicago's ATT (Associated Talmud Torahs) as well as the founding Rabbi of Congregation Yehuda Moshe in Lincolnwood.
Reb Cahim's mother Sheina Baila (Jeanette) Rubin Fasman was also a member of a prominent Chicago family known for their tzedakah and hachnasas orchim.
As a bachur Rav Chaim learned in Skokie Yeshiva where he was inspired by Harav Mendel Kaplan. He latter went on to learn in Bnei Brak's Ponovezh Yeshiva and Yeshivas Bais Hatalmud in Bensonhurst.
In 1975, 6 years after his marriage to his wife, Rebbitzen Yehudis Fasman, who is a daughter of Rav Eliyahu Munk of Paris the couple moved to Los Angeles to found the Los Nagles Kollel which has had a tremendous impact on the development of the Torah community of Los Angeles.
Harav Fasman was buried in Yerushalayim on Har Hamenuchos Wednesday.
