The Jerusalem Police Department has concluded its preparations for the upcoming holiday of Shavuos that begins on Saturday night. Policemen, Border Patrol persons as well as volunteers will be deployed throughout both the Eastern and Western parts of the capital to insure both personal and property safety as well as to direct the expected flow of people.

Tens of thousands of Jews come every year to the remains of the holy temple for the special nighttime learning and early morning prayers.

The Police explain that since the goal is to insure the safety of the public on its way through the Old City alleyways, passage through the Damascus Gate will not be allowed from Shabbos night until 01:30 the night of the holiday, in line with the security situation at the time.

Jews will be able to go through the New Gate, Jaffa Gate, Zion Gate and the Dung Gate until 01:30, according to facts on the ground at the time, and will also be prohibited from leaving the Kotel by way of HaGai Street.
