Disbelief in the Jewish community in Casablanca: the community's Rabbi, Moshe Ohayon, was attacked and severely beaten last Friday by a local in retaliation for the attacks in the Gaza Strip.

The report was first reported in News 2. According to the report, the young attacker, whose identity is known to the police, awaited the rabbi who walking to synagogue, and struck him with great force when confronted with him. He then continued to beat his face and caused him to fracture his nose and severe injuries in his ribs.

The Rabbi says that he begged for help, but passers-by ignored his cries.

The Jewish community in Morocco condemned the incident and said that its members fear the level of anti-Semitism in increasing security tensions in the Gaza Strip.

"Since the recent events in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, there is an increased incidence of harassment of Jews. They harm businesses and it became really scary to live here," a member of the community was quoted.

Following the serious incident, the heads of the local Jewish community turned to the police with a demand to increase the security around Jewish institutions in the city.
