The law was promoted for several years by the so-called "orthodox Lobbyist", Yosef Segal, the yeshiva student who decided to end blatant discrimination against Yeshiva students.
MK Uri Maklev congratulated Segal at the plenum when the law was passed and said, "I remember requests arriving to the Knesset officer to prevent him from entering the Knesset because of him harassing members of the Knesset, and we demanded vehemently not to give a hand to it, it paid off."
As mentioned, the Knesset plenum approved the first reading on the bill on which the Social Security proposed to expand the definition of a child regarding survivors' pension under National Security Act to include anyone under the age of 20 years and studying in higher education institutions or secondary institutions - as specified in the bill.

This will be added serving in the army and national service, those facing the graduations on the primary or candidate academic study, already eligible annuity until the age of 20. Bill is estimated to cost $ 15 million a year and she has the support of the government.

MK Uri Maklev (Yahadut Hatorah): Thanks goes to Yosef Segal and his mother who accompanied him on the many difficulties to bring this bill to an end.
MK Dov Henin (Hadash): I would like to express special appreciation to Yosef Segal, who gives an example to citizens how to operate this idea that ultimately in democracy, every system should work in favor of the citizens.
MK Nissim Zeev (Shas): There is a consensus among members of the Knesset regarding this bill. All parts of the house and all the factions are all partners here.
