Haredi activists in Williamsburg, led by activist Rabbi Moshe David Schneiderman, arrived yesterday (Sunday) to the fire station in the neighborhood, after learning about the death of Gordon Ambuls firefighter officer, who died yesterday from his injuries after the day before on Saturday night - tried to save a boy from a fire which broke out in a multi-story building, and was mortally wounded.
Activists have expressed their condolences and pay tribute to the officer, who saved from death a few weeks ago Haredi child who stuck his head in an electrified fence.
The fire which broke out on Saturday night Ambuls was wounded at 10 pm on the 19th floor in the building number 75 on Olsen street, the building that housed low-income families and their rent is largely funded by the municipal authorities.
The fire broke out due to electrical shortage which caused the ignition. Firefighters from the area had tried to take over the fire, but not before they evacuated the building tenants. From that point the officer Ambuls, and during the evacuation of a child from the 19th floor he was seriously injured and rushed to the hospital - and died there.
A week ago the Haredi community held an event honoring officer Ambuls, where he received an award for saving Mendy Gottlieb from death last month.
Rabbi David Schneiderman expressed the sorrow of the community of the death of the officer, and said: "We express our sympathy to his family and his two orphaned daughters who will always be remembered in our prayers. We are all participants in grief at the fire station on Hopper Street - next to the Satmar School. Tragedy only proves the sacrifice of the police and fire department, the officer's memory will be kept forever in our hearts and in the hearts of the Gottlieb family".
Satmar even released an obituary in memory of the officer.
