No ceasefire: rocket was launched at Beersheba

For the first time since Operation Pillar of Cloud, a rocket attack on capital of the Negev • Iron Dome system intercepted the rocket, no casualties • rockets fired at Ashkelon Beach and Ofakim • IDF attacked terror targets in Gaza • Israeli soldier was hit by a mortar shell in Gaza district • No schooling in Ashdod tomorrow in unprotected buildings

A tense Shabbos in Israel: At least 25 rockets and mortar shells were fired at the South and for the first time a rocket was fired into Beersheba.

An alarm sounded this afternoon (Shabbo) in Be'er Sheva and a rocket was fired at the city. The rocket was intercepted by the Iron Dome system.

So too, the Iron Dome system intercepted rockets fired at Ashkelon Beach and Ofakim. Iron Dome intercepted one rocket, the other two exploded in open areas.

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu held security assessments today with Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon, Minister of Public Security Yitzhak Aharonovitz, Police Chief Lt. - General Yohanan Danino and ISA chief Yoram Cohen.

Netanyahu said that IDF forces are working against Hamas targets and are prepared for any development in the field, and that "the operation is resolutely and responsibly managed to restore peace, and if necessary additional power will be used."

Earlier today an IDF soldier was not seriously injured by a mortar shell that fell outside the Eshkol council.

IDF attacked two targets in the Gaza Strip.

Ashdod Municipality announced that tomorrow no schooling or other educational activities will be held in unprotected buildings in the city, most of which are used in the Haredi educational institutions.
