Does the IDF collaborate with missionaries? This morning Kol Barama radio station exposed cooperation between active missionary organizations in the U.S. and IDF units, including inter alia preaching to the soldiers, by evangelical Christian missionaries.
Mendy Rizel's revealed this morning in Moti Lavi's program on Kol Barama that a few weeks ago, missionary propaganda for the 188th Brigade soldiers of the Armored Corps took place at 2am.
The preaching lasted for three hours live on television from the United States, which uttered nonsense which, among other things, claimed in the ears of the soldiers that Jesus guards over Israel.
An investigation shows that a graduate of division in the past, who is a member of the evangelical Dallas DAYSTAR organization, wants to adopt the division. As part of a fundraising evening in one of the brigades, conducted on Isru Chag of Shavuos, expensive sunglasses were handed out to soldiers in the regiment.
The event was broadcast live from the missionary TV channel in the United States. On the background of the screen, was a cross. Every soldier who came to congratulate the donors from overseas received as a gift a pair of glasses, and one of the priests spoke in praise of the glasses that protect Jewish fighters and linked it to Jesus eyes "who "sees" and "blesses" the soldiers.
The brigade commander himself, Col. Tomer Ifrah, came on a live interview for the occasion, and many donors who talked excitedly about the great privilege to contribute.
The IDF admitted things but did not understand what the problem is - "They mentioned once that Jesus guards over Israel, what's wrong with that?" he said.
The IDF said in response, "This is an evening dedicated to cooperation between the channel and the division, and we emphasize that no Christian symbols were presented during the broadcast."
Unfortunately, the Internet site of the channel has distinct signs that this is a missionary channel and expressly states that it is a Christian television channel which operated 24 hours a day, seven days a week, throughout the world for spreading the message."
Elsewhere it stated that "the good news is that the gospel is going to be relentless throughout the Holy Land" and that activity of the gospel "is carried out through gifts to the weak population.
