Two months after the announcement of the Satmar Rebbe regarding to the cost of a shtreimel for a chosson, a new store especially adapted to the regulations of shtreimelach was opened.
As reported in Behadrey Haredim, about two months ago during a meal for the Rebbe the Barech Moshe of Satmar zt"l, the Rebbe introduced in his drosha a new regulation which Satmar activists have been working at for a long time, aimed at reducing the cost of shtreimels for a chosson.
Lately a chosson pays on average of between 6 and 7 thousand dollars for a regular shtreimel, in addition to another shtreimel for rainy months – for which one pays about a thousand dollars. The Rebbe asked his Hassidim not to pay more than $ 2,500 per shtreimel, and not to buy another shtreimel only one shtreimel per groom.
The Rebbe also mentioned that activists on the issue met with several factories of shtreimelach who promised to get a nice shtreimel for this amount.
The Rebbe added a condition to the regulation, that from now on only the father of the groom may buy the shtreimel for his son, and not as customary that the bride's father pays the price, which leads to the fact that the bride's father in-law can not stand firmly on the regulation, unlike the father of the groom who can easily enforce the regulation.
In recent days thousands of the Satmar Yeshiva Gedola were told in an explanatory meeting held within the yeshiva, at which heads of the yeshiva and activists of the Hasidus spoke in praise of the regulation, about the new store opening especially for the shtreimel regulations, which will sell shtreimelach only up to a price of $ 2,500 as the Rebbe had fixed..
A source involved in the opening of the new store reported to Behadrey Haredim that already on the first week since the store opening, 17 chassonim of Satmar yeshiva students bought a shtreimel in it.
