'Ezras Nashim', Hatzalah organization exclusively for women, set out in Boro Park, New York.
The organization is aimed at giving first aid, whose team will be composed of women and is designed for women who need help and do not feel comfortable with men manning the ambulances of Hatzalah organization.
"It was a real challenge to pave the way for the establishment of the organization," said the group's founder Rachel Freier, "but the organization is finally being launched. All the volunteers underwent proper training. The idea is that women treat women so that they feel more comfortable."
The organization is already operating with 40 volunteers but due to lack of resources to purchase an ambulance, it reached an agreement with a private ambulance company to help volunteers.
The proponents plan to expand the service to other Orthodox neighborhoods in New York.
The establishment of the rescue organization composed entirely of women, is a historic breakthrough and no doubt many Orthodox Jewish communities will adopt it.
