Council of Torah Sages of Agudath Israel in the U.S. joins the prayers held for the safety of the hostages throughout the Jewish world, and chooses chapters of Tehillim to be read. Meanwhile it was reported that Likud Beteinu MK, Uri Levy- Abukasis addressed the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon to intervene in the Israeli kidnapped crisis.
After a long series of prayers conducted last night around the Jewish world and in Israel, topped by the special prayer at the Western Wall by Israel's chief rabbis, today the Gedolei Torah of the U.S. come out with an impassioned plea to determine the order of a special prayer to be held today between Mincha and Ma'ariv in all the synagogues throughout the U.S. while in yeshivas the time of the second "seder" will be concluded with a special prayer.
"We were shocked and appalled at the dreadful news from the Holy Land of three Jewish boys who were captured by terrorist enemies and are in mortal danger which tears every heart. We therefore call on all our Jewish brethren to gather in shulls and Batei Midrash on Monday the 18th of Sivan, to awaken the mercy of Heaven and to pour forth their prayer before our Father in Heaven, between Mincha and Ma'ariv, and yeshiva bochurim will set their davening at the end of the second seder for these brothers in trouble and in captivity, so that no bad will befall them and may G-d have mercy on them to take them out of trouble to relief and from darkness to light. "
The letter also sets up a special order to pray with the following chapters of Tehillim: 13, 20, 22, 35, 43, 44, 69, 77, 79, 83, 90, 102, 107 and then verse by verse: 121, 130, 142.
Chairman of the Committee on the Rights of the Child, MK Orly Levy - Abukasis (Likud - Beiteinu) launched yesterday (Sunday) an urgent request to UN Secretary General Ban Ki–moon demanding his intervention in the kidnapping crisis of three Israeli boys and to act to ensure their safety and safe return home.
MK Levy – Abukasis: "The kidnapping event highlights, among other things, the breaking of all humanitarian rules and blatant violation of the rights of the children of Israel to live their lives safely and without fear for their lives. For, these are not combatants and not part of the battle, rather three young boys who currently were to pursue their matriculation examinations and pass their time between studying at school and staying with their families. "
In her appeal to the UN Secretary General MK Levy - Abukassis writes that "as the head of the United Nations, I expect you to act in accordance with the International Convention of the United Nations Rights of the Child, which states that 'Member States shall take all appropriate measures at the national level, the versatile and multi-faceted in order to prevent the abduction, sale or trafficking of children for any purpose or in any form.'
"Also, the Convention on the Rights of the Child states that "Member states undertake to respect and to ensure the respect for rules of international humanitarian law applicable to them in situations of armed conflict, and relating to children."
