Three yeshiva students Gilad Shaer, Naftali Frankel and Eyal Yifrach, were kidnapped last Thursday night as they boarded a 'ride' on their way back home.

The present case was brought before Hagaon R' Aharon Leib Steinman, who called on yeshiva students "not to hitchhike."

When R' Aharon Leib was told of the kidnapping, he responded saying: "One must not hitchhike, one does not know who he is falling with! It's really a mortal danger!" When asked if there is a danger in especially this area, R' Aharon Leib said: "all over."

Indeed, the yeshiva world regards boys who hitchhike with all severity, especially when it comes to a place and time when public transport is active, and there is no justification to hitchhike.
