Boro Park: A policeman stopped and confiscated vehicles transporting patients to the hospital on the pretext that the service is illegal.
A policeman stopped the car of a charity organization which led two women with cancer for treatment at hospital in Manhattan, the officer confiscated the vehicle on the grounds that the vehicle in a private transport service, unlicensed.
The incident occurred this morning (Monday), as a volunteer of the organization transporting patients to hospitals, picked up patients and drove them to hospitals for treatment.
When the vehicle reached McDonald Avenue, a policeman stopped the car and ordered the driver and two women to get out, claiming that he was unlicensed for transport service.
The driver explained that it is an organization that takes patients free of charge to hospitals; the policeman confiscated his car and wrote a number of reports to the driver.
The driver was quick to call the Mitaskim organization who sent another volunteer, and called the city council member David Greenfield and Assemblyman Simcha Felder.
According to the report claimed that women police officer told him that they pay for the trip while women never spoke with him.
City Councilman David Greenfield said : " I'm shocked that a man of law can be so impervious as to remove from the car two women who are cancer patients to be forced to stand on the side of the road and wait for someone to come and take them , I demanded a full investigation of the case and the cop and I demand to immediately annul the reports given to the driver and of course the vehicle confiscated will be returned immediately to its owner as well as an apology from the police to the charity organization , "said Greenfield.
