Baruch Dayan Ha'emes: in U.S. the saxophonist Yoel Brach z"l passed away on Shabbos after a long illness at the age of 34 only.
On Friday his friend Lipa Shmeltzer arrived in his home and sang for three hours before Shabbos, while he parted with his children and family.
The funeral took place yesterday (Motzaei Shabbos) in the U.S., with the participation of acquaintances and friends. He was buried in Kiryat Yoel cemetery.
May his soul be bound in the bond of life.
Yoeli z"l wrote a moving testament before his death describing his illness which landed on him out of the blue. Behadrey Haredim brings it fully.Yoeli's will:
All my life I have worked around the clock 19 hours a day, always with the worry about tomorrow, never took off work not on Sundays, vacations and not on holidays.
I avoided sugar, red meat and drinking alcohol, I did gym every day for two hours for the last 17 years.
I went with the feeling I'm in the best and most healthy condition that can be, I do everything so that I won't be ill, I am protected from cancer.
And while I think to myself I have a career - my wife has a career, I'm in the middle of building a house, my entire life is well planned. And then it happened without any warning. My life changed dramatically.
I learned a few things and I want to share them wit you:
A. Live for today and do not think about tomorrow and by live I mean use the time wisely.
B. The most important thing to a person is his family, when someone goes through something so traumatic, only his family will do anything to help him through it. No money in the world will help you, you have worked hard all these years and all the money you have in a bank account will not help you like a family that keeps your sanity.
So why put work before family, why put them at the bottom of the list, when you look to the side and realize that nobody is assured of life, regardless of age and how healthy he is, then you understand that what I have is not because I bought it with hard work that I worked, but I got it for a specific purpose, not for my ego, and to look at it and feel good you will see where I am in life but use it to return a favor to the family and spend time with them and make a difference in the world.
C. Know that if you have enough money to pay bills, and you and your family are healthy you should be the happiest person in the world and know that you are lucky.
