Immigration Authority raided Israel's largest yeshiva • view

Immigration Authority inspectors raided tonight (Tuesday), the Mir Yeshiva in Jerusalem neighborhood of Beit Yisrael, to locate foreign workers employed in place without permits.

Dudi Gloiberman, who was there, told Behadrey Haredim "immigration police arrived at about 16:00, at the yeshiva, but the workers were afraid of them and went into hiding. Cops learned from their behavior, they also hid and waited for employees to return to the kitchen. A short time later when the employees returned to the in kitchen, the inspectors went inside.

"Immigration Authority inspector's insurer took out about 20 employees, and after checking their IDs, they released the majority, but two employees were detained."

Authority spokeswoman Sabine Hadad said to Behadrey Haredim that this is a routine examination. Four Eritreans were identified with permits.
