Illuminating darkness: no electricity in Be'er Ya'akov Yeshiva

Beer Yaakov Yeshiva in darkness: the sword of financial cuts swung on the Torah world, hit the condition of Beer Yaakov Yeshiva, which sank tonight (Sunday) into heavy darkness - following a great debt to the electric company, so that the yeshiva as a whole, including the Beis Midrash and dormitory, are in total darkness.

With time beginning of the zman on Thursday, the generator was used as a power alternative for the yeshiva, but this morning the generator collapsed and the whole yeshiva remained without electricity.

Yeshiva students are studying in sub-conditions, and today following the scorching heat, they traveled to several different Batei Midrash in Beer Yaakov to learn with a little chilled air by an air conditioner.

Conditions in the dormitory are very harsh, and the boys suffer of heat and mosquitoes, but continue learning Torah in all three study in alternative arrangements.

Mashgiach of the yeshiva, Hgrm"d Lefkowitz, gave a talk today in Seder Gimel in a makeshift shull near the yeshiva. Hgrm"d reinforced the boys, and mentioned that "Torah shelamadeti be'af hi she'amda li". Hgrm"d praised the yeshiva students that despite the great difficulty – the sounds of Torah are heard strong. At the end of the talk, the yeshiva students broke into a heated dance singing 'Ashrei ha'am shekacha lo" along with the rabbis.

The yeshiva management is making every possible effort to pay the debt to the electric company as soon as possible through fundraising.
