Troublemaker: Resistance to the Pope's visit at the Kotel

Expected visit of the Pope in Israel in about a month continues to inspire storm: Yehuda Schlesinger of Yisrael Hayom reveals that the visit is expected at the Western Wall unmistakable because of the opposition of the people of the Western Wall, following the schedule of the visit which does not match the needs of the worshipers.

It should be noted that the visit had already aroused much opposition from various quarters when last month although there was the claim that the Israeli government is planning to give his side of the pope ownership Tomb of David on Mount Zion. But now the criticism is because the visit was scheduled for Monday morning, the day of events, and many Bar Mitzvahs at the Western Wall, and therefore cannot make such a visit in the late morning. A senior management of the Wall has said that he already recorded about a hundred families holding bar mitzvah that day and many more families are expected to enroll.

On the other hand, the time cannot be preceded due to claims that it may clash with the sunrise minyan. In recent days, several meetings took place between personnel and police in an attempt to find a solution to the problem, but the problem remained.

Western Wall Rabbi Shmuel Rabinovitch said: "Pope's visit cannot come at the expense of worshipers or Bar Mitzvah celebrants. We must find a solution and make the visit without upsetting worshipers. Plaza cannot be closed even for one moment because of the visit."
