Three new haredi battalions; Expected: 8000 soldiers

This morning (Wednesday) it was revealed that military preparations are underway to establish three additional haredi battalions.

Army Radio reported this morning that the battalions will be established prior to the expected increase in recruiting haredim, after the new conscription law was approved. The army is preparing for it and three additional battalions will be established which will be tailored to integrating haredi soldiers according to their mode of life.

Another interesting fact revealed is that the assessment of the IDF is that the number of haredi soldiers which is now 3000 will increase to 8000 within three years.

The first battalion will be in the Givati Brigade, a reconnaissance company in the armored brigade and another battalion in the Jordan Valley.

According to Army Radio report, the army ensures that the conditions for haredi battalions would be similar to the existing conditions in the Netzach Yehuda Battalion - Nahal Haredi, and likewise – women will not serve in these units and women's singing will not be played.
