Scandal in Petah Tikva: chometz baked during Pesach
Rabbinate denied kashrus to Shibolei Hatikva bakery because it apparently sold pitas baked over Pesach; Bakery to reporter: "Do not come here"
Last night at the conclusion of Pesach, at about eight fifteen, a car came to the Shibolei Hatikvah bakery on Degel Reuven Street corner Trumpeldor in Petah Tikva, dropping off hot pitas at the store.
Think for yourself: Yom Tov ended at 19:53 – the time for baking pitas takes an hour + the drive of the vehicle, in short – it is likely that the pitas were baked over the Yom Tov itself.
Chief Rabbi of the city was present at the store, and he removed the supervision of the Chief Rabbinate. It was also reported by Rabbi Yehudah Besser from BADATZ Chatam Sofer Petach Tikva that the kashrus was immediately removed, the advertisement will be published tomorrow.
In a conversation which Behadrey Haredim reporter held with the bakery this morning, they admitted that indeed their kashrus was removed: "Within two days everything will work out, you can come now buy pitas with Rabbi Landau's hechsher".
To the question – but the kashrus was removed because you brought bread right after the Yom Tov, how can one trust you? The answer was simple, "then don't come."Photo: Kobie Har Zvi
