Initiated by the Satmar: Millions of dollars will be distributed in Jerusalem

Satmar will distribute today (Thursday), millions of dollars to yeshiva students in Jerusalem.

To dozens of separatist communities will gather representatives of the Ministries of Satmar Kiryat Yoel Moshe in Jerusalem, to receive scholarships for thousands of kollel students. Scholarships will be distributed among other yeshivas who didn’t show up in the recruitment centers.

Committee appointed dozens of representatives from each class and community, they must submit full details of the learners, and will transfer those checks before the holiday.

Recall Satmar Rebbe decided, due to government cuts, to provide special scholarship of hundreds of shekels per avrech.

Fund was founded by the Rebbe about a year and a half during the journey held in Shevat תשע"ג and aims to fund educational institutions that do not benefit from the state budget.

The Fund's initial plan was to provide a onetime grant , but due to the difficult situation Rebbe decided to continue to fund its activities , and early winter time the U.S. launched another distribution to all the institutions that are the on the holy purity.

This time the Rebbe decided most will be given to yeshiva students, only a part will be given to educational institutions.

Hiddush CEO, Uri Regev responded to distribution "we have to evaluate each avrech which disconnects udder public funds. Aspiration is many students as possible out of the service and work and contributes to the national effort. But surely whoever insists on not working to support his family, it is better to do it at the expense of haredi workers in the United States than on the back of the taxpaying public in Israel".

Regev also noted that he doubts if the amounts are truly able to fund thousands of students who until now received money from the state".

However, said Regev: "If the gift payment is a promise not to report to the recruitment, it is a long list of criminal offenses, including: sedition, incitement evasion and solicitation to commit a crime ." Regev said, "It's time to apply Israeli law also in Meah Shearim and arrest those who are part of the money meant to click and help yeshiva students violate the Defense Service Law and the Penal Code".
