History in Shas: Maran Rosh Yeshiva crowned

Official home newspaper – Yom Leyom published last night (Wednesday), Shas crowned Hgr"s Cohen as Maran Rosh Yeshiva.

Meeting of the council decided that the one who will serve as head of the Council of Sages and fill the place of Harav Ovadia Yosef zt"l as a leader of the movement, is the head of Yeshivat Porat Yosef, Hgr"s Cohen.

Hgr"s headed for decades the Yeshivat Porat Yosef, and established a generation of scholars. Hundreds of rabbis and yeshiva heads of the Sephardic Torah halls are his students.

In the last elections Hgr"s Cohen came to Harav Ovadia's shiurim on Motzei Shabbos. Harav Ovadia expressed, "our teacher, Rosh Yeshiva of the Torah all his life and providing students all words are holy."

Yom Leyom reporter Yehuda Dvir festive held a festive project on the seder in the presence of the Gedolei Yisrael, and in which Hgr"s was crowned for the first time with the title Maran Rosh Yeshiva.

Shas also intends to convene a conference on Thursday Chol Hamoed Pesach, at the Armonot Chen Halls to attend, to receive the teacher, with the participation of members of the Council of Torah Sages. Hgr"s is expected to speak there for the first time as the new leader of the movement.
