Seder night in Prison 6: yeshiva bochur sent to jail

Student of Vilkomirer Yeshiva in Ashdod and Orchos David in Har Nof, Jerusalem, went out last Monday night with his family from a family simcha in Elad, while his father was driving. The police set up a blockade at the exit oft eh city for searching for illegal immigrants, and policemen took the details of all those travelling by car.

When they came to him, the policemen discovered that the bochur is "wanted for investigation" by the military police, since he did not cooperate with the authorities and did not report, and were arrested in front of his parents and family members. The heads of the committee for saving the Torah World immediately went into action to tray and help him legally.

The bochur is Eliyahu Cohen, resident of Quarter Tet in Ashdod, and he was taken this afternoon (Wednesday) to a military court in Tel Hashomer, where twenty days of arrest were decreed on him, while during the Seder night and the entire Pesach he will stay in the military jail far from his family. The bochur is now in Tel Hashomer awaiting his continued arrest.

At the Committee for Saving the Torah World they promise a protest the like of which has not been seen, while keeping in contact with all circles of Haredi Jewry. According to them, it is impossible that the army will continue arresting bnei Torah with the excuse of "the policeman had no choice but to arrest him" being unacceptable.
