MK Meir Porush met with the Police Commissioner and protested against the arrest of the yeshiva student, which occurred through the Israeli police activity.
Recall, Eliyahu Cohen, a student of the Grodno Ashdod and Orchos David, was arrested by traffic police in routine testing in Elad. When it turned out that the boy did not come to the first order in the centers, was arrested and brought today (Wednesday) before a military judge which sentenced him to 20 days in a military prison, where he is supposed to stay during Pesach.
Porush addressed at the meeting and pointed out to the commissioner that the yeshiva student arrest may result in a wave of riots.
The meeting was attended besides Porush, even Betar Illit Mayor Meir Rubinstein, Mayor of Elad Yisrael Porush, Yossi Deitch and Yisrael Wertheimer.
At the meeting, held every year for the holiday preparations, said that the arrest may cause events that exceed the responsibilities of military police, and because of public safety, it is the civilian police who are obliged to intervene and reduce the friction with the ultra-Orthodox population.
Later in the session reviewed the increased preparations by police chief and police for the holidays in Israel in general and Jerusalem in particular.
